Natural wood stains at the University of Chicago

I was finally able to experiment with natural wood stain for a workshop at University of Chicago this week! We used Marigold, Brazilwood, Alkanet, and Madder and of course Indigo! I made the vat on the Solar eclipse day so obligatory pic through a leaf pinhole ;) the students were excited, most were still sanding and finishing their projects. The student pictured V. Spent the first half of class making her samples and experimenting and was amazed at how much these natural dyes shift and change. The teachers Luke and Casey were amazing and brought in some milk paint which we played with also!
